Education
Springfield is under the jurisdiction of Springfield School District. Students are zoned to two local elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Students and adult learners interested in achieving in higher education can attend a number of nearby colleges and universities such as Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Drexel University, among others.
Attractions
Every year dozens of special events and festivals take place in Springfield. Previous events have included Running of the Monk 5K, Fall Fest, and the Cardinal O'Hara Band Craft Fair. Theater lovers can see some truly great performances at the Tower Theater, a local theater venue. Many of the main attractions are located in Philadelphia, which is only about fifteen miles away. Some of these include the Atwater Kent Museum, the Walnut Street Theater, Rittenhouse and Franklin Square, the Ben Franklin Memorial, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the legendary Liberty Bell. For those who are looking to take to the mall, Springfield Mall is one of the largest malls in the outer banks of Philadelphia.
Parks & Recreation
There is never a shortage of outdoor recreational activities in Springfield. The Springfield Country Club's golf course is challenging and beautifully landscaped, challenging golfers of all levels. There are also a number of different parks located in Springfield, each which offer something different for residents and visitors alike. Williams Park comes with an amphitheater, shuffleboard courts, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic tables. Recreational clubs and societies such as the Gardening Club offer residents with opportunities to get out and socialize. |
